Copyright Notice & Takedown Policy
Protecting Creativity. Empowering Ownership. Supporting Community.
At Seeking Trans ("SITE"), we take intellectual property rights seriously. Whether you're a creator in the United States, the United Kingdom, or anywhere around the world, your original work matters.
As a platform rooted in visibility, inclusion, and respect, Seeking Trans is committed to respecting and protecting the rights of copyright holders under U.S. and U.K. copyright law, including:
- The U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and
- The U.K. Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (CDPA)
Seeking Trans qualifies as a “Service Provider” under U.S. law and complies with the "safe harbor" provisions of the DMCA. At the same time, we acknowledge our obligations under the CDPA and support fair and prompt enforcement of rights for U.K.-based copyright holders.
🛑 Submitting a Copyright Infringement Notice (U.S. + U.K.)
If you believe that your copyrighted material has been used on our site in a way that violates your intellectual property rights under either U.S. or U.K. law, please submit a Copyright Infringement Notice including the following:
- Your full name and contact information (physical address, phone, and email)
- A description of the original work (literary, artistic, or multimedia) you believe is being infringed
- The exact location (URL) of the infringing material on our platform
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the material is being used without permission
- A declaration, under penalty of perjury (under U.S. law), or a Statement of Truth (under U.K. law), that the information provided is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf

📥 Takedown Procedure
Once we receive a valid notice under either DMCA or CDPA guidelines:
- We will expeditiously remove or disable access to the infringing material
- Notify the user responsible for uploading the content
- Offer an opportunity to file a counter-notification, where appropriate
For users in the UK, any takedown process will also align with principles of the UK Online Safety Act and fair dealing provisions under CDPA.
Repeat violations may result in content removal or permanent account termination at our discretion.
📤 Submitting a Counter-Notification
If you believe your content was removed in error or misidentified, you may submit a Counter-Notice under DMCA or a Dispute Response under U.K. CDPA, containing the following:
- Description of the content removed and its original location (URL)
- A statement made under penalty of perjury (U.S.) or a signed Statement of Truth (U.K.) that you believe the content was wrongly removed
- Your contact details (name, address, phone, email)
- Your consent to jurisdiction of a relevant court (U.S. federal district court or U.K. courts)
- Your signature (digital or physical)
Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, we will notify the original complainant. If they do not initiate legal action within 10–14 days, we may restore the material.
⚖️ International Considerations
As a globally accessible platform, Seeking Trans recognizes the need to adhere to both domestic and international copyright obligations. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works
- WIPO Copyright Treaty
- Digital Economy Act 2010 (UK)
- Online Safety Act 2023 (UK)
We balance these protections with the rights of users to exercise free expression and fair use/fair dealing where applicable.
